Welcome to Legacy Canadians

Our farm is located in Mission, British Columbia, about 80 kms. east of Vancouver. My husband Marty and I have owned other breeds of horses for most of our lives, but like many others, we were unaware that Canada had its own unique heritage breed until we were first introduced to the Canadian Horse in 1999. Then it was love at first sight. We were instantly captivated by the breed’s beauty, intelligence and resilience, and intrigued by its history.

We were very excited to have been part of the celebration of our breed's long overdue recognition for its role in the development of our country. In April, 2002, almost 350 years after arriving on our shores, the Canadian Horse was officially designated by law as the
National Horse of Canada.

While Canadian Horses have played a vital role in the history and development of North America, and are a proud part of Canada's heritage, they are capable athletes and competitors for today’s rider.

For almost a decade, our goal at Legacy Canadians was to concentrate on quality over quantity and to do our part to conserve and promote this wonderful breed as a capable athlete and competitor in today's world.

After what seems like a very short decade, our breeding program is being suspended, and most of our horses are moving on to new homes and lives.

We will always love and believe in the abilities of the Canadian Horse to succeed and excel at any task or discipline asked, and hope to always have at least one or two Canadian Horses in our lives.
