We were very excited to have been part of the celebration of our breed's long overdue recognition for its role in the development of our country. In April, 2002, almost 350 years after arriving on our shores, the Canadian Horse was officially designated by law as the
National Horse of Canada.
While Canadian Horses have played a vital role in the history and development of North America, and are a proud part of Canada's heritage, they are capable athletes and competitors for today’s rider.
Our goal at Legacy Canadians has been to concentrate on quality over quantity and to do our part to conserve this wonderful breed, by selectively breeding the next generation to be as good, or better, than the one before. We consider pedigree analysis and knowing our horses' ancestors to be useful resources to help us make sound breeding decisions, but we do not breed "paper" horses. We believe that the merit of a bloodline is determined by the excellence of its individuals, and by the ability of those individuals to produce exceptional offspring, capable of competing successfully against any breed in their chosen discipline.
Visitors are always welcome at Legacy Canadians, even if you are just looking. Coffee is always on, and we love to show off our horses. But please call first, to make sure we will be home.
